Osteopathy Treatment: What We Treat

Encouraging long-term healing

What I love most is when my diagnosis is accurate and I can feel the tissues relax under my hands. My approach to patient care is centered around the individual, where both my knowledge and my intuition play crucial roles in guiding the treatment process. I believe that the way I provide support complements my expertise, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of each patient's unique needs.

Osteopathy focuses on treating the whole person, rather than just addressing the symptoms in one area of the body. It seeks to understand and resolve the root cause of the problem, promoting long-term healing. This holistic approach acknowledges the deep connection between the body, mind, and spirit, recognizing that true health involves the balance of all three. With many years of experience in osteopathy, I have successfully treated a wide range of injuries and conditions, helping countless patients both in France and Canada find relief and regain mobility. My expertise allows me to address both chronic and acute issues, tailoring each treatment to the individual needs of my clients.

Here are some common conditions I treat:

  • Back and Neck Pain: Whether caused by poor posture, injury, or stress, I use targeted techniques to alleviate pain and improve spinal function.
  • Joint Pain: From shoulders to knees and hips, osteopathy can help reduce inflammation, improve range of motion, and ease discomfort caused by arthritis, injuries, or overuse.
  • Headaches and Migraines: Many headaches stem from tension in the neck and upper back. Through gentle manipulation, I work to relieve this tension, reducing the frequency and severity of headaches.
  • Postural Issues: Poor posture can lead to long-term pain and discomfort. I help correct imbalances and improve body alignment, providing relief and preventing future complications.
  • Digestive Issues: Through visceral manipulation, I support the proper function of internal organs, helping to relieve digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
  • Sports Injuries: I’ve treated a variety of sports-related injuries, from sprains and strains to more complex musculoskeletal issues. My treatments aim to promote faster recovery and prevent future injury. Visit my dedicated Sports Injury page to learn more about it.

Whether you’re suffering from a recent injury or a long-standing issue, I offer personalized care to help you heal and feel your best - Just a stone's throw from your doorstep, right in downtown!

What to Expect in an Osteopathy Session

Unlock Balance and Relief with Personalized Care!

Listening to and actively engaging with my patients is essential, as it allows me to see them as proactive individuals in their care.

An osteopathy session begins with a consultation to understand your medical history, followed by a full-body physical examination. The osteopathic practitioner uses precise manual techniques, ranging from joint manipulations to gentle mobilizations. Each treatment is tailored to the patient’s specific needs. Sessions usually last between 45 minutes and an hour, and follow-up treatments may be recommended depending on the situation.

Before and After Success Stories from My Osteopathic Treatments

Patient Transformation: Resolving Chronic Lower Back Pain

I recently treated a gentleman in his 50s who was referred to me by a colleague of his. He had been struggling with lower back pain for five months, which significantly impacted his daily activities, including morning tennis matches, professional meetings, and even getting out of bed. Although he had been undergoing physiotherapy, he wasn’t experiencing much improvement.

When he made a last-minute appointment with me, I learned that he had a charity tennis tournament scheduled for that afternoon, making cancellation impossible. While we typically advise against engaging in intense physical activity within 24-48 hours post-treatment, I needed to find a way for him to play without exacerbating his condition.

After conducting a thorough physical examination, I identified that the painful area was under considerable stress due to extreme tension in his quadratus lumborum (QL) muscle. To help, I gently mobilized the facet joints on the affected side to restore mobility and encourage the muscle to relax. I also treated the 12th rib on that side but intentionally left the muscle slightly tense. This approach allowed his body to maintain a sense of restriction during the match, prompting him to be cautious with certain movements and reducing the risk of further injury.

When I followed up with him a week later, he reported with joy that he had successfully played his match, experiencing only mild residual discomfort in some movements. In our subsequent two to three sessions, we addressed these lingering issues, after which I referred him to a clinical Pilates reformer program with a physiotherapist. This referral was crucial for re-educating and strengthening his core muscles, as underlying long-term chronic issues contributed to the acute pain he had been experiencing for the past five months.
